This is what you need to know if you are traveling with your pet from abroad to Colombia.

Your pet has two ways to enter Colombia from another country. The first option is to travel with you in the cabin or as accompanied baggage (in the cargo hold), in this case keep in mind that once you go through customs and the DIAN (National Tax and Customs Office) inspection, you will find the ICA (Colombian Agricultural Institute) offices where you must present all the documentation of your pet to process your pet's entry into the country.

The second option is for your pet to travel under the cargo modality, in this case as IPATA members (International Pet and Animal Transportation Association) we have a worldwide network of partners with whom we can coordinate your pet’s trip to Colombia; from providing the crate for the trip, arranging the necessary veterinary check-ups and coordinating the reservation of the best travel route.

Once your pet arrives in Colombia, we will also take care of all the veterinary and customs procedures for their entry into the country. Bear in mind that when pets arrive through cargo, the process is a little more extensive than if they are traveling with you as part of your luggage. In this case we will be informing you step by step how we are going with the whole process, we will have the opportunity to take them for a walk and provide them with food and water while we finish with all the paperwork and additional procedures.

Remember that the most important thing is that your pet complies with the requirements demanded by our country for their entrance:

  1. Original Health Certificate issued by the official health entity of the country of origin.
  2. Valid vaccination card.
